The Merriam-Webster online dictionary describes "normal" as: "conforming to a type, standard, or regular pattern : characterized by that which is considered usual, typical, or routine."
We all want to fit in, to belong--that's only natural. After all, human beings are social creatures. We need each other, and following certain rules helps us get along and feel safe. However, too much conformity is dull. Our diversity and creativity are what help us survive--and also make life more interesting!
So embrace your uniqueness (and the uniqueness of others). Remember, history books are not filled with people who were "typical."
"Normal is not something to aspire to, it is something to get away from."
----Jodie Foster
"If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be."
----Maya Angelou
"The only normal people are the ones you don't know very well."
----Alfred Adler
